The Roper Rehabilitation Hospital is a 39-bed, state-of-the-art “hospital within a hospital” dedicated solely to rehabilitation and functional recovery. An activity room, dining room and a gymnasium are all in close proximity of the patient rooms. A Real Life Room has a car for practicing transfers, steps of various heights, ramps, and different surfaces to use in practicing safe ambulation.

Team Approach

At Roper Rehabilitation Hospital, we approach recovery goals as a team. Our rehabilitation team consists of the patient and their family, as well as doctors, rehabilitation nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, neuropsychologists, social workers, therapeutic recreation specialists and nutritionists. Our team has been recognized for their excellence by Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and has consistently won patient satisfaction awards for patient care delivery.

The Roper Rehabilitation Hospital recently earned special recognition from PRC.  The Rehabilitation Hospital achieved a Top Performer Award, recognizing the facility and its staff for achieving the highest levels of patient satisfaction in the nation for overall quality care.

Stroke Specialty Accreditation

Roper Rehabilitation Hospital is the only hospital in the Lowcountry and one of only five in South Carolina to be awarded the Adult Inpatient Rehabilitation accreditation, and one of only two in the state to be awarded the Stroke Specialty accreditation from the CARF. The accreditation affirms our hospital’s programs meet internationally recognized standards of care.
